Nikon DSLR & Windows Vista Compatibility – Most Nikon DSLRs are now Vista Compatible

Nikon has confirmed that most of the Nikon DSLR cameras have now been tested & approved to work with Windows Vista (32 bit version).

All Nikon DSLR released on or after March, 2007 have support for Windows Vista, except for the Nikon D1 Series cameras.

If you are running your own home photo business & using Nikon DSLRs, you need to keep your firmware & software updated to the latest version to avoid problems with extended support or warranty.

The D40X, released at the end of March, 2007, has acquired the “Certified for Windows Vista” logo.
We have also released a firmware update for the D40, v1.10 to add support for Microsoft Windows Vista.

D40 firmware update are available on the Nikon Website. If your camera’s firmware versions (A/B) are 1.10 / 1.10, then they have already been updated and the new “Software Suite” that bundles with cameras is compatible with Windows Vista.

The latest version of PictureProject, v1.7.5 added support for Microsoft Windows Vista, for use with the following models: D2XS, D2HS, D2X, D2H, D200, D100, D80, D70, D70S, D50, D40.

Both PTP and Mass storage USB transfer options can be used for camera connection. Picture Project is no longer available as a Full Version download, please use the CD that shipped with your camera if you wish to use Picture Project.

Nikon does not plan to offer compatibility for D1-series cameras (D1X, D1H, D1) connected to a computer with Windows Vista preinstalled. Use a card reader or card slot to transfer images.
