Satellite TV – Economic & More Entertainment Options

While this website is all about running a successful small business with a focus on photography & travel, it makes sense in this difficult economy to squeeze out every additional dollar for your spending.

This post is about making a switch to satellite TV, more precisely onto Direct TV. The biggest advantage over cable TV from a consumer’s point of view is the huge savings on the monthly rent.

Direct Satellite TV also offers a much larger choice of high definition channels over the normal cable. My personal attraction is the Nation Geographic & the Discovery channels. Believe me, if you have seen David Doubilet’s underwater photography on a wide screen HD channel, you would not come back to cable TV any more.

Right now it makes perfect sense to move onto satellite television. The cost as well as the larger choice of HD channels are clear winners. And right now, there are attractive DirecTV Specials to make the transition sweeter. You can get over 150 channels for less than $35 a month. We pay Charter over $110 a month & never have the satisfaction of either good programming or good quality.

Some DirecTV Offers also include a free HD DVR Receiver upgrade. With a HD DVR you could save your favorite shows onto your own computer or external hard drive for later viewing. In fact, I have always wanted to make DVDs of some of the National Geographic shows, especially those on African safaris & NG Photographers’ biography. Till I am able to do it, I have to rely on NG DVDs sold in the stores.
