Sports photography is a great option for small home business photographers. There are several ways in which you can start off with sports photography – starting from your home town.
One of my fellow photographers, Jeff Reagan introduced me to sports photography at the local middle school. I used to accompany the middle school soccer & baseball teams on their practices & started to gather contacts for the finals.
Although I did not pursue sports photography simply because I was doing a lot more in Street Journalism, it still remains a very profitable photo business option. Being in a large metro like New York has its own advantages, especially when it comes to sports photography. You could buy cheap Yankee Stadium Tickets to get into some of the more serious sports photography opportunities.
That apart, for shooting baseball in New York, you could also try getting the Fenway Park Tickets. Fenway Park hosted the 1946, 1961, and 1999 Major League Baseball All-Star Games. It is also one of the most popular for Red Sox fans and the baseball legend Babe Ruth.
While small school baseball games could help you hone your skills, having to be in these stadiums will lead you to see how many of the famous sports photographers work. These are great places to exchange a business card if you are serious about sports photography business.
While I was in Chicago, I had the chance to visit the Wrigley Field. It is the home of the Chicago Cubs since 1916. Created in 1914, it is also famous for being the ball park for the Chicago Bears. With the Wrigley Field Tickets you could witness the glory of the sports and witness the historical glamor of one of United States’ most famous baseball grounds.
Whether sports photography, be it baseball or soccer or anything else, is your forte or not, it is worth giving this opportunity a try. There is immense competition amongst sports photographers. So it makes good sense to start off small at your local sporting events, all the while visiting some of these great stadiums for occasional shots.
