The sunsets & sunrises along the coast are picturesque in all seasons, especially at high tides, when the waves almost touch the land above the cliff.

The Nubble Lighthouse, just south of Portland, is on an isolated rock across from the mainland. At low-tides you can try to walk or swim across, although the dangers of an extremely rocky, slippery and rough waters exist.

There are over 30 lighthouses north of Portland. Some of these are located on the mainland, while some are situated miles off the coast into the Atlantic. The lighthouses close to Acadia National Park are absolutely gorgeous in all seasons.

The Pemaquid Lighthouse – the iconic pictures of this lighthouse includes the reflection in the small puddles of water caught in the rocks from the receding tides.

The Bass harbor Light, another gorgeous lighthouse atop the rocky cliff, is brilliant to photograph at sunrise & sunset hours.
