One of the most beautiful areas in the Ozark mountains in Arkansas is the Cedar Falls & the Cedar Creek in the canyon between the Ouachita mountains valley & the Ozarks. This beautiful waterfall is located in the Petit Jean State Park.

The Cedar Falls gets its name from the Cedar River. The community was bought from the Sturgis family, in 1850, by John and Dempsey Overman, along with John Barrick. They renamed the community Cedar Falls.
The almost mile long Cedar Creek and the beauty along the canyon is breathtaking. The creek fills up after days of heavy rain but the Cedar Falls runs water year long.
Cedar Creek Falls Panoramas
The place is a local hot spot for weekenders and people staying either in the Mather Lodge or in the park RV campgrounds to relax, swim or even have a picnic. It could get so crowded in summer that you may not get enough place to stick your tripod for a decent long exposure shot of the Cedar Creek falls.
Cedar Canyon Creek
The almost mile long creek and the canyon can consume hours with such beautiful locations all along the creek. Lined with boulders and hemlock trees, the stream could overflow during heavy rains.
Most of the tourists crowd around the Cedar Creek Falls leaving the beautiful creek open to photographers. If you are dressed for a hike then it would be no problem to wade over the stream onto the other side. I drove about 300 miles & for 5 hours each way to get to the waterfall, so I had no time left to photograph the canyon except to take a few shots.
