Almost the heart of Memphis and the only street with any signs of life & laughter in Memphis is the Beale Street. Though failing businesses and a lack of enterprises in the vicinity have significantly eroded the vitality of this music city, there is still a lot going on in these 2 downtown blocks.
From live music and local music bands, beer, some great southern soul food to weekly displays of cars & bikes, Beale Street is somehow managing to keep the locals & tourists interested in the city.
Beale Street lights up in the evenings. In summer there are car & bike shows on certain days, while a few blocks down, you could start seeing numerous murals, something that the local art community values greatly. The street also serves as the local eatery, with street side beer & a lot of soul food & barbecues almost in all the pubs.
