Ayn Rand and her relevance now

It all seems to be a religious repetition from Ayn Rand’s books all over again. I wrote in 2015 if we are in Ayn Rand’s perfect world, and this current epidemic puts beyond doubt that we are not – not as any individual culture and definitely not as any country.

Almost everywhere around the world it seems that scientists, philosophers and intellectuals have taken a back seat letting capitalists sacrifice communities in various ways to keep increasing their financial wealth even during these terrible socio-economic devastation.

This leads to the book Ayn Rand For The New Intellectual.

For the New Intellectual: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand (50th ...

This is not a “new” book as such but a compilation of her existing books like Atlas Shrugged, Fountainhead and all. It has certain relevance and excerpts from Ayn Rand’s more direct approach to The Virtue of Selfishness & The Romantic Manifesto.

Such a summary pointedly reminds us of our individual fallacies and our inherent cultural and social battle against colonialism & capitalism. In context is this short note:

This is Ayn Rand’s challenge to the prevalent philosophical doctrines of our time and the “atmosphere of guilt, of panic, of despair, of boredom, and of all-pervasive evasion” that they create.

One of the most controversial figures on the intellectual scene, Ayn Rand was the proponent of a moral philosophy, an ethic of rational self-interest, that stands in sharp opposition to the ethics of altruism and self-sacrifice.

The fundamentals of this morality, “a philosophy for living on earth”, are here vibrantly set forth by the spokesman for a new class, For The New Intellectual.
