I cannot really call it modeling while there are elements of creativity & makeup, but the costumes and the whole drama around cosplays are quite fascinating. It is usually a huge event to the cosplayers and many of them plan & prepare for these events through the year.
I was off my base when I walked in on one of the Cosplay Events hosted in Charlotte, North Carolina. The place was throbbing with enthusiastic models, makeup artists and dress makers, aged 8 to 80!
There were numerous families with kids , parents & even in-laws who showed up. Many of them are supporting the cosplayers in their families while many were cosplayers themselves. There were numerous couples, both young newly married to older ones.
Solo participant, often traveling with groups of friends from out of station, were more in number though. However, no matter where they are from, they all seem to be somehow familiar with each other, either having met them in prior conventions or have been connected online.
These conventions happen during summer mostly, almost all over the US. It was fascinating to watch these folks, all dressed up and assuming the personalities of their avatars.
Unfortunately, I am so remote from these things, that I could not identify any of them or even find any relevance to their dedication to this costume plays.
